easily confused with:
- Large-Flowered Leafcup
Tall coneflower has a deeply lobed leaf, while leafcup has a maple-like leaf.
- Pale-Leaved Sunflower
Pale-leaved sunflower leaves are lanceolate; tall coneflower leaves are deeply lobed.
- Sneezeweed
Sneezeweed has a relatively unusually shaped petal, roughly triangular with a scalloped outer edge. Tall coneflower leaves are lobed; sneezeweed leaves are elongate.
- Tall Coreopsis
