Whorled Loosestrife may be
easily confused with:
- Fringed Loosestrife
Whorled loosestrife flowers occur in whorls of 3 to 6, most typically 5 or 6. Fringed loosestrife petals are fringed or slightly toothed, and generally have fewer flowers to a whorl. Fringed loosestrife nods more severly than whorled loosestrife.
- Garden Loosestrife
Flowers on garden loosestrive are more densely clustered, and the stem is hairy. Flowers of whorled loosestrife reach farther from the central stem.
- Swamp Candles
Flowers of Swamp Candles are crowded close to the stalk, forming a more obvious cluster than whorled loosestrife.
