Swamp Candles may be
easily confused with:
- Fringed Loosestrife
Flowers of Swamp Candles are crowded close to the stalk, forming a more obvious cluster than fringed loosestrife. Fringed loosestrife nods pronouncedly.
- Garden Loosestrife
As the name suggests, Swamp Candles grow in marshes and moist areas, while Garden Loosestrife prefers drier conditions. Flowers of Garden Loosestrife occur in the axils, while Swamp Candle flowers occur as a terminal cluster.
- Moneywort
Moneywort is a trailing vine, while swamp candles is an erect plant.
- Whorled Loosestrife
