Crooked-Stemmed Aster may be
easily confused with:
- Calico Aster
Flowers of calico aster are small, typically 1/2 inch across, while those of crooked-stemmed aster are over 1 inch in diameter. Leaves of calico aster are lanceolate, while those of crooked-stemmed aster have an unusal, partially toothed form.
- Heath Aster
Leaves of heath aster are tiny, while crooked-stemmed aster has large, toothed leaves that clasp the stem.
- Purple-Stemmed Aster
The stem of crooked-stemmed aster is smooth and zig-zags between leaves. Purple-stemmed aster usually as a purplish, hairy stem, though green stems may be seen also.
